Fashionista in the making??

I just would like to share a couple of Emersen's outfits from last week. The first outfit was put on by Trevor as they went for a bike ride while I was getting my hair cut and going to the gym. I guess since both the top and bottom had navy, they sort of matched (those were Trevor's words by the way)?!?

Oh, and Emersen loves loves loves to take off her own shoes now...wondering when that phase will pass??
The second outfit is what Emersen chose to wear to the Soybean Festival...beads, hat (in 85 degree weather) and sunglasses. She was quite the hit to say the least! :) Oh, and the hat...yeah, it continues to be her accessory of choice!!

Soybean Festival=Great place to wear my Notre Dame beads!!

Off and running! :) Growing up way too fast

Soybean Festival

This past week we had the Soybean Festival in the land of Martin. Last year, Emersen was just a little one and she didn't even get out of the stroller. This year...she was so interested and loved wandering around all of the people. I think she is into people watching already! See, there are these concerts which start around 7pm each night; however, people start staking out their spots at like 3pm. Emersen thought that all of these lawn chairs were just for her...so we had to make a quick getaway; oh, and it started to pour just as we made it back to the car. We didn't even indulge in a funnel cake this year, only homemade kettle corn. I also spent the day Friday at the festival with the elementary kids and this year I got a little crazy and decided to ride the Ferris Wheel and share these beautiful photos of the Martin skyline! :)

Labor Day Girls Weekend

Girls weekend 2011

Emersen and I got to spend Labor Day weekend with my mom/Nina, sister/Aunt Megan, and nieces/cousins Zoe and Logan. Their trip down to Martin went well and Emersen was so lucky to get to eat 2 dinners Friday evening!! :) The girls immediately picked up with each other right where they left off from our visit this summer.

Emersen loved sitting in a booster seat this weekend!

Saturday morning play time...of course we have to wear our beaded necklaces with our pj's :)

Letting Aunt Megan trace hands on paper

All three girls were running around the house all weekend, laughing, screaming, and getting out any toy/puzzle/stuffed animal that they could find. Guess we could measure the amount of fun they had each day by the time it took us to pick up their messes as well as the amount of scrubbing in the bath! :) How did we spend our time? Well, we played a lot, went to the playground, wrote with sidewalk chalk, took a trip to Wal-Mart (of course), went to church, and visited my classroom. As you can tell from all of these pictures, we had a wonderful time!!

Who knew these girls could run so much??!!

Fake naptime while dinner was cooking :)

Pretty sure this picture sums up how Emersen was feeling/acting all weekend long :)

New school year

My how time flies!! We are back in school already...the summer went by way too fast! Emersen is now in Room 2 at the 'college' daycare. It is a more age-appropriate room; however, she was moved a week earlier than expected so that was cause for some transition situations. She now has 2 weeks under her belt and seems to be doing just fine. Most of her buddies are in the same room and she usually has 3 (if not more) teachers in the room at all times. They have a flexible schedule which includes things like song time, story time, "messy" activity time, and outdoor play.
The biggest changes include the fact that (1) each child has his/her own cot (yes, no crib!!!) and they only pat backs to sleep, no more rocking and (2) all the kids eat together at one big toddler sized table! Eme went w/out a nap for 2 days(ugh!!), but finally got the hang of it and usually sleeps at least 1 hr. if not more. She also enjoys mealtime and is so excited and ready to eat breakfast when Trevor drops her off.
Now that she is a little bit older, I am a little bit more comfortable with her at "school"; however, I love it when she runs across the room to me when I pick her up in the afternoon! :)
Now, if we could just get the teething difficulties to vanish, that would be awesome!

August 2010..hardly able to sit up by herself

August 2011..walking, standing..doesn't she look so grown up and toddler-like?

She loves, loves books!!

A little randomness...

Emersen loves learning how to put things "in" and she really watches everyone all the time...so I guess it shouldn't be surprising that she knows how a key works??
Another example of putting things "in"..she often carries a bag or basket around the house with her "things" :)
Cool shades baby

Reading with Daddy; but with Emersen she likes to have 2 books out at once (and I didn't even know about the "Baby Bear, Baby Bear" but she loved it just as much as "Brown Bear, Brown Bear".

Finger painting!

Recently it has been so hot and humid that it has been tough coming up with new and fun activities for Eme indoors. Then I had a great idea: Finger painting!!

Um, I think it turned more into body painting, but at least she had fun and we got a great 'first' painting canvas!! :)
