Famous!?!

I know you are all aware that Trevor's favorite soccer team is Arsenal. Well, awhile ago he sent in some pictures of Emersen in Arsenal outfits hoping that they would publish a shot of her in their magazine. Well they did!! And not with just Emersen, but with Trevor too! They are famous!
The other picture is one of my favorites of the two of them...

On the move

Emersen has been crawling for over a week now and she can move so fast!! It is really funny to watch her 'gain' speed as she gets going, especially since we do not have carpet. She has learned that now she can get to pretty much anything so she really enjoys exploring!! Lots of times she will crawl for awhile and then sit up and turn around to see if we are watching her. :) Baby gates here we come! I haven't learned how to post a video clip yet, so instead here are a few shots of her moving around.

Emersen's newest obsession

Well, Emersen has now had her 2nd ear infection. We are not quite sure if the first one ever really went away so last week off to the doctor we went. She is now on her 2nd round of antibiotics and thankfully MiMi was able to come and stay with her for 3 days during the week so that she didn't have to go to daycare. She got to rest and sleep at home and they had a great time together!
Once she got to feeling better we noticed that she couldn't get enough of 'sticking' out or playing with her tongue! It has been kind of hard getting a picture of what she does, but hopefully you can kind of tell. :)

Santa!

Trevor and I took Emersen to see Santa on Saturday. I think we had about 2 seconds of a somewhat 'happy' baby before she turned into a scared baby. We never got a smile, but all in all, she did a great job! She told Santa (quickly) that she wanted all of the things that I keep taking from her (like shoes, rugs, remotes, paper, etc) as well as some toys for Christmas. :)

8 months old

Emersen is 8 months old! At 8 months she:
*CRAWLS!!
*Loves to play peek-a-boo
*Loves the song "If you're happy and you know it"
*Is not the biggest fan of green beans or peas, but loves acorn squash and zucchini
*Still only has 2 bottom teeth
*Enjoys playing with boxes (as you can tell from the pictures)
*Is persistent and determined with regards to trying to get toys and other items she wants
*Will let you know verbally that she is not happy with you when you take away something from her
*Thoroughly enjoys removing her shoes and socks in order to chew on them
*Wears size 3 diapers
*Wears 12 month sleepers (well, this will change today b/c they are very hard to zip up over her "healthy" thighs) :)
*Wears a just few 9 month long sleeve onesies, but mostly 12-18 month clothes
*Babbles a lot
*Is a happy baby!!

Thanksgiving Holiday

We were so happy to have my Dad and Alice visit us over the Thanksgiving holiday. They were such a big help since Tuesday afternoon Emersen was so exhausted from not being able to nap at daycare due to a few babies who like to keep her up. That is another blog post in itself!! Anyway..the days got better from then on. She feels a lot better after finishing all of her antibiotics from the ear infection; although she never was a huge fan of taking the pink medicine. We all got to cook some yummy food, spend some time outside since it was warm on Wednesday, and just hang out together. Trevor and my Dad also dropped Emersen's crib one level since she is getting to the point of rolling over and sitting up in bed. I know now that it is only a matter of time before she is pulling up on the sides to stand....but not yet little one! :)
For some reason we didn't take any photos while my Dad and Alice were here but they were great and emailed these two photos so that I could post them. I hope that you all had a wonderful and relaxing Thanksgiving!!

Cheerios and Laundry

First taste of a Cheerio.....not so yummy;
however, today she liked them just a little bit better! She has a little trouble since it is so tricky trying to get these little round suckers into her mouth. :)

Who knew how fun a laundry basket could be?? Well, Trevor and Emersen just had a ball with the laundry basket while I was at the gym.
As you can see, Emersen didn't mind being "boxed in" one little bit! Now if she could only help us fold and put away all of the clothes...

Emersen's new tricks

Emersen moved herself all the way over to the ottoman...and would really like to learn how to pull herself up. When she stands by it and holds on, the first thing she does is to give the ottoman zerberts!! It is so funny! The 'fun' things are up there like the remote, cups, cell phones....
She also enjoys pulling apart the puzzle pieces of the floor mat....and once she gets them apart, of course they become something yummy to chew on. :)

Now Emersen has really begun to show off her almost crawling skills. She gets up on all fours, will rock back and forth, definitely can move backwards and sideways on all fours just not completely forward yet. Last night she even showed us her army crawling skills!

(Last) Weekend in review

Once again, I am a little late in posting this entry. Last weekend was very nice! Emersen has been on antibiotics for an ear infection (her first...probably not her last) so we relaxed some at home over the weekend. We also wanted to get some early Christmas shopping done so the three of us went to Jackson to hit Target (yeah!) and a few other stores. Here is a picture of Emersen in her car seat in our new van...doesn't she look so happy?

Just a short update...

This is just a short update. As you can tell, Emersen has figured out how 'neat' the laptop is so I have to type as fast as possible! :) She loves wearing her sunglasses in the car before going to daycare. Since the time has changed, she gets to use them a lot in the morning! Even though she has been sitting up for quite some time, she really has not figured out how to turn or get onto her tummy from a seated position. However, I think this picture shows that she has it almost figured out. I tried to take a few shots of her 'rocking' on her knees/hands, but they didn't turn out very well. Other updates include new veggies: green beans and zucchini! Next up will be acorn squash...

Peas and a minvan....

Guess the title of this blog post sums up our weekend pretty well! Emersen tried peas for the first time Friday evening. Luckily, I had purchased the "Magic Bullet" for one of Trevor's anniversary gifts (appliances) and it did the trick! I froze the extra amount in an ice cube tray~guess each 'cube' is about 1 ounce. Although Emersen gave peas her best shot, I don't think that she is quite a fan of them yet. Up next will be green beans I think....
Saturday we decided to head to a car dealership to check out a Town/Country minivan...yes, a minivan. Trevor looked at it Friday afternoon while getting his oil changed and wanted me to check it out. We always knew that we would need something larger than my car (as all of our family members know, we were rather packed in tightly on our summer trips), but we just weren't sold on a midsize SUV. This minivan has it all...2 TV's, heated seats, backup camera, stow-n-go seats, and I could go on and on. It rides great and I think we have more than enough space for right now...hopefully!! :)

Catching up with MiMi and Dzia Dzia

We got to catch up with MiMi and Dzia Dzia when they came for a visit recently. Emersen had a great time showing them her new tricks~rolling all over the floor, jumping, and making all kinds of funny noises. We watched some of the Notre Dame game and Emersen was decked out in her uniform. It was so pretty outside that we got to go on a walk. We also went out to dinner at the Opera House. Once again, Emersen did a great job...although next time, I will have to remember to remove all adult items from the table (napkins, silverware, etc) because she wanted everything that she couldn't have. I also forgot to bring her sippy cup, so when she was thirsty, she just decided to drink the condensation from Trevor's drink! I really thought we had a picture of that on our camera, but I guess it must be on Dzia Dzia's. We had a great visit!

Happy Halloween!

Happy Halloween from our little monkey! We spent the day in a variety of outfits. Emersen relaxed and lounged on the couch in her glow in the dark skeleton outfit. Then she and Trevor dressed up together (except of course for the bow band in her hair). Finally, it was time for her to 'turn into' a monkey! She really did not know what to think when we put her in the monkey costume. We did get some smiles, but mostly it was "what in the world is going on?" We hope that you all enjoyed the Halloween weekend!

6 months old!!

This post is a little late since Emersen is now over 6 months old! We took some pictures of her over the weekend and wanted to share them with everyone. At six months (well, really 6 1/2 months) Emersen:
-wears size 3 diapers and 9 month clothes
-loves to jump
-can sit on her own
-rolls around on the floor to get to her toys
-scoots backwards
-smiles, smiles, smiles
-giggles
-loves music
-loves to take her socks off and play with them
-can still get her toes to her mouth :)
-eats cereal in the evening (some nights more than others)
-makes all kinds of noises and especially likes to try out her 'scream' this week

Shopping and pumpkins

Here are the last few pictures from our weekend in Indiana. All of the girls decided that they didn't really want to nap so Zoe and Logan went to a birthday party while Emersen, Aunt Megan, and myself went shopping on Sunday. Emersen loved looking at all the clothes and she was so happy in the stroller we borrowed from Aunt Megan. We shopped at Old Navy and Target. Sadly, Children's Place and Gymboree closed early...but we will hit them next time! I also gave Emersen a cup to drink from and she loved it.

Cousins!

Oh boy did Emersen have a good time with Zoe and Logan! She got to sit in one of their highchairs, play in their exersaucer and jumperoo, and laugh and giggle with them! Zoe and Logan have grown so much and are full of so much life and energy. As you can see, they really enjoy reading books and Zoe even tried to help us lay out the floor mats....she thought some pieces were necklaces but did finally help us put the pieces together. :)
